📢 Exciting News: MOPSS Secures Support from Massachusetts Dental Society for House Bill 1094! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce Massachusetts Oncology Patients, Survivors, and Supporters (MOPSS) has gained a valuable supporter in our advocacy efforts. The Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS), a distinguished professional association representing over 5,000 members and a statewide constituent of the American Dental Association, has officially extended its support for House Bill 1094 (H1094): An Act expanding coverage of dental procedures.

  Background:

Powerful survivor and professional oral testimonies were presented in December 2023 to the Joint Committee on Financial Services and are currently under consideration by the committee. If the Financial Services Committee reports favorably on this bill, it will proceed to the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing for review. This legislation would mandate insurers to provide coverage for dental procedures related to or resulting from a medical condition for which coverage is already provided.

 Words of Support from MDS:

In a letter addressed to MOPSS, the MDS expressed admiration for our dedication to this critical legislation. They stated, "We commend the MOPSS for their efforts on this important legislation and ask that the Committee vote to favorably report this bill out."

 MOPSS Appreciation:

MOPSS is incredibly appreciative of the support of the Massachusetts Dental Society. This strengthens our resolve to advocate for oral health coverage, especially for those navigating the unique challenges of head and neck cancer. Our commitment lies in advocating for incorporating dental care into health care practices, acknowledging the interdependence of oral health and overall well-being. Dental care is an integral part of health care.

 Why It Matters:

Head and neck cancer patients and survivors often grapple with unique challenges to their oral health due to the nature of the cancer and its treatments. Despite the necessity of extensive oral surgery and dental work for these individuals, current insurance policies do not adequately cover such procedures. `

How You Can Make a Difference:

Contact Your State Representatives: Urge them to support and advance House Bill 1094 to enhance the quality of life for Massachusetts head and neck cancer survivors.

Submit Written Testimony: Email your testimony to Mopssma@gmail.com, and we will ensure it reaches the Committee.

Express Your Support on Social Media: Engage with Massachusetts Oncology Patients, Survivors and Supporters on LinkedIn and join our Facebook community at MOPSS. Use the hashtag #SupportH1094 to amplify the message and raise awareness.

 Your Support Matters:

We believe in the power of collective action. By standing together with MDS, MOPSS, and the broader community, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of head and neck cancer survivors in Massachusetts. Let's ensure oral health coverage becomes a reality for all residents facing these unique challenges.
